]]>There are a few things to consider when choosing cupboard knobs. First, you need to decide what style you want. Do you want something traditional or something more modern? Once you have decided on the style, you need to think about the size of the knobs. You don't want them to be too small or too large for the cupboards.
Next, you need to choose the material. There are a variety of materials to choose from, including ceramic, metal, and glass. The material you choose will depend on the style of the cupboards and the overall look you are trying to achieve.
Once you have chosen the style, size, and material of the knobs, you need to install them. This is a relatively simple process that can be done with a few basic tools.

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the grass bank and of having nothing to do, when suddenly a White Rabbit ran close by her. There was nothing so very remarkable in that, even when she heard the Rabbit say to itself, 'Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!', but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of it's waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice jumped to her feet to follow the Rabbit. Alice was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge and in another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again.
The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice. 'Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. Alice replied, rather shyly, 'I - I hardly know, sir, just at present - at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.' 'What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. 'Explain yourself!' 'I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, because I'm not myself, you see'.
There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house and the March Hare and the Hatter were sitting around the table having tea. A Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep and the other two were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it and talking over its head. The table was very large but the three of them were all crowded together at one corner of it: 'No room! No room! they cried out when they saw Alice coming. 'There's plenty of room!' said Alice indignantly and she sat down in a large armchair at one end of the table.
"Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at!" You know the song, perhaps?' asked the Mad Hatter. 'I've heard something like it,' said Alice. 'It goes on, you know,' the Hatter continued, 'in this way: "Up above the world you fly, like a tea-tray in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle, little bat". 'Take some more tea,' the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly. 'I've had nothing yet, Alice replied in an offended tone, 'so I can't take more.' 'You mean you can't take less,' said the Hatter; 'it's very easy to take more than nothing.'
A large rose tree stood near the entrance of the garden; the roses growing on it were white, but there were three gardeners at it, busily painting them red. Alice thought this a very curious thing and she went nearer to watch them. 'Would you tell me,' said Alice, a little timidly, 'why are you painting those roses?' Two replied in a low voice, 'Why the fact is, you see, Miss, this here ought to have been a red rose tree and we put a white one in by mistake; and if the Queen was to find out, we should all have our heads cut off, you know. So you see, Miss, we're doing our best, afore she comes and painting the roses red!'
The White Rabbit blew three blasts on his trumpet and then unrolled the parchment scroll and read as follows: 'The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts, all on a summer day: The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts and took them quite away!'
Alice found herself lying on the grass bank, with her head in the lap of her sister, who was gently brushing away some leaves from her face that had fluttered down from the trees above. 'Wake up, Alice dear!' said her sister; 'Why, what a long sleep you've had!' 'Oh, I've had such a curious dream!' said Alice and she told her sister of all the wonderful Adventures she had, that you have just been reading about.
We hope you enjoyed the story!

With these long winter evenings and dull, wet and windy days it's a good time to start getting creative and bring some fresh inspiration in to your home.
There are some great ideas on the internet of simple things to make especially as we have Valentine's and Easter coming soon.
Hobbycraft have some very clever crafts for all sorts of decorations and home decor ideas suitable for everyone, whether you are new to crafting and just want some advice, or a busy parent looking for a school project - or you want to recreate this fabulous headboard featured in the photo from reclaimed wood. We thought it would be nice to share some of the lovely photos we've received from Mango Tree customers who have done a fantastic job renovating their furniture and adding our ceramic cupboard knobs to give it that extra finishing touch.
Nicci from Leeds put these Alice in Wonderland Black and White knobs on this painted yellow chest of drawers for a great effect. Nicci says 'Love my Alice in Wonderland Knobs'.
Georgia from Bridgend has chosen the 'Saffron and Slate' theme we featured recently by adding saffron yellow and mustard knobs to this grey tall cupboard which really compliments the wallpaper to great effect!
These two fantastic dressers look brilliant and these photos were sent in by Mango Tree customers to show how great the ceramic cupboard knobs look on these beautiful pieces of furniture.
Debbie from Swindon sent the photo of her cream dresser and says: "I had the dresser top for more than twenty years... the sideboard for around six years. I love the shabby chic look and decided to take the plunge, after seeing something similar in a gift shop in Lyme Regis! When I got home, I retrieved the dresser top from the shed, bought the paint... and away I went! The knobs were a finishing touch, which I think look fabulous"..
We definitely agree Debbie!
The photo of the grey dresser was sent in by Niamh from Ireland who also used the grey ceramic spots and stripes along with two of the black and white butterfly knobs.
Margo has used our mixed set of Whisper Grey cupboard knobs on her wooden chest of drawers and the hanging hearts are a great addition - so is the candle and fragrant reed diffuser all adding to the lovely tranquil, calm effect. Margo says: "Thank you.... My new knobs have brightened up my chest of drawers perfectly.... ❤️
Last but not least, Marloes has used the round ceramic cupboard knobs in bright colours and spots and stripes to jazz up this oak cupboard. Marloes says: "Thank you so much for the quick delivery of the lovely knobs! My cupboard looks a lot less boring now!"
We hope these ideas will inspire you to have a go too!
And if you do we would love it if you sent us your photos and we can feature them in another one of our future blogs.
Until next time,

Continuing on our neutral grey theme for that stylish and simple living look why not add some bold splashes of red to give your home a warm and comforting feel especially on these cold winter evenings.
Mango Tree Knobs have just launched a new set of mixed ceramic hand painted cupboard knobs in shades of red and grey that would go very well with this decorative theme. Click here to view this set on our website.
We love what Chandra has done with this piece of furniture that she purchased which is both a useful seating area and opens up to become a very handy storage space for hats, gloves and scarves. By giving it a makeover in this beautiful distressed grey Shabby Chic effect and placing it in her hallway it has a useful purpose as well as creating a welcoming feel as you enter her home.
If you would like to create a similar effect on a piece of furniture you have at home why not visit the Vintage with Grace website and take a look at their Chalk Paint and get some great ideas of the special effects that you can do to completely transform an old piece of furniture.
Chandra found this amazing antique carved wooden cupboard in a shop in Brighton many years ago and it has moved with her from room to room. It now has pride of place as a grand centre piece in her bathroom where she keeps her perfumes and toiletries and we love the pretty lace covers over the natural wicker baskets.
Chandra has a Spanish heritage and we can see that throughout her home in the little touches and the lovely ambience she creates. Her kitchen is modern and minimalist with plain white units and lots of stainless steel and brushed chrome finishes but she still brings her special style with these heavy looking antique brass candle holders and the some exquisite ceramic pieces dotted around.
So we hope we've helped inspire you with the help of Chandra and her beautiful home ideas.
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year from the Mango Tree team.

The Christmas tree is just the start, there is so much more you can do to make the house feel extra special. It's a good idea to put on a Christmas movie or CD to help create the right festive mood.
Fairy lights at the window look so effective from both inside the house and are very welcoming from outside too. Combining the fairy lights with some winter leaf garlands and other Christmas decorations looks very effective. These traditional fairy lights in warm white are available from Argos for just £3.99
Adding pine cones to the fire place is a nice idea and this great little mouse in his red and grey tweed outfit is a great addition and available to purchase from our Mango Tree Home accents.
We love these hanging stockings purchased from a charity shop in Somerset but this would be a fun and simple project to make your own one from bits of left over material and some ribbon.
So enjoy this festive season and we wish you a warm and Merry Christmas with lots of joy and fun from all of us at Mango Tree.
]]>So Hygge was shortlisted as Word of the Year, but what exactly is it? And what does it have to do with your home? Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) originates from Denmark, and is very difficult to translate. It's best described as a cultural practice that focuses on the present moment, and enjoys small gestures. Lighting a candle and pausing with a cup of tea before a busy day, or curling up with a good book and a soft blanket before you go to bed. With cold winters and short days in Scandinavia, no wonder appreciation was made for cosy interiors, and enjoying the warmth of a fire or candle.
So how do you create it? What accessories do you need? Well, it's not really that simple. In the book of hygge by Louisa Thomsen Brits, she comments that home design has been focused on how things look, as opposed to how they feel. Instead of focusing on particular physical objects, to invite hygge is to focus on emotional need.
Brits says perhaps the most important element of hygge, if not its origin, is warmth. For example, setting up furniture around a central fireplace, with a coffee table ready to support a hot cup of tea. However, you don't need a fireplace to experience hygge - having a meal, or pausing for a break during the day with a lit candle is also a way of creating warmth in the house.
The idea of light can be expanded; Danes opt for softer lighting with floor lamps as opposed to a glaringly bright overhead light. In this way, light in the home is perceived as a source of comfort and creates a softness, as opposed to a purely functional action of lighting up an entire room.
Brits also talks on the importance of touch in hygge. When we really notice the feel of material we focus on the present, instead of letting our thoughts wonder. Soft materials in a bedroom can be very calming and comforting. Having nearby blankets ready to curl up in can add that layer of cosiness to a room. Again, in tune with the idea of being connected to our surroundings, Danes often use natural materials in the house. For example, wood, brick, and stone.
Hygge is sliding into bed in the winter to find a patch of cat-warmth by our feet. Vintage textiles softened and worn with use, quilts patched with love, a basket of blankets arranged so that anyone can envelop themselves in warmth.
-Louisa Thomsen Brits
Eating together
Sharing a meal as a social occasion at the end of the day is a great way to experience hygge. It is about enjoying the presence of each other's company for no particular reason. Eating hot food together around candlelight whilst enjoying each other's company creates atmosphere and connection. Putting a little extra effort into how things are presented turn eating into an occasion that is meant to be experienced socially.
An old tablecloth and tea lights in jam jars can transform an ordinary occasion into an experience that holds us together long after the candles have been blown out.
-Louisa Thomsen Brits
We hope you have enjoyed this introduction to hygge, and that you understand a bit more about the meaning behind the word. If you are looking to learn more about it, you can click here to check out the book that was quoted throughout the blog. It's quite popular at the moment, so I wouldn't be surprised to find a book on hygge in your local bookstore!
Until next time,

]]>Redecorating a room can be expensive. This post is all about small accessories that create big changes. They allow you to make a house a home without it becoming a rather expensive affair!
Adding fairy lights in a creative way to a room can be really effective. The above photo looks trendy and attractive, and the poster and lights did not cost very much at all! In the second photo, we've put to use all those shot glasses that end up being lost or forgotten and made them part of the light display!
This lamp is pre-made, however it would be so easy to create one of these by yourself. All you would need is an empty bottle, some fairy lights, and some stylish ribbon to top it off.
One can only have so many lights to hang around the room. Buying bunting or getting creative with materials can be really fun, and you get a home accessory out of it.
If you are trying to create a tranquil atmosphere, perhaps considering getting some sea shells and creating your own window sill display! This incense burner was bought for £10 at a local market, and although its purpose is solely aesthetic, it matches the tranquil look really well.
Remember, as always with upcycling, just keep an eye out for items that could be accessorised. This mannequin has been brought to life with juxtaposed modern and vintage accessories - it even has a functional use as a place to keep a pair of headphones and a purse!
We hope you've found some inspiration for your bedroom in this post, remember: small changes, big effect. Stay tuned for next time.

]]>This week we've decided to explore the role of real art in your home. We all know that purchasing art can be incredibly pricey, however with a bit of digging you may find a real bargain. Sourcing from local shops, small exhibitions or finding work produced by art students is a great way to both help these artist communities and at the same time acquire some lovely pieces of artwork at slightly more affordable prices.
During this post we will be featuring Emilie Fitzgerald, an artist with whom we at Mango Tree collaborate regularly. Here are some examples of small paintings that could add a great finishing touch to a room.
The picture above would be clearly at home in a country cottage, whereas the photo below would be absolutely perfect if you live by the sea.
However they need not all be on canvases! Here Emiile has come up with the unique idea of painting on slices of wood. She finds fallen trees in the countryside, and then saws them herself before painting on them (I know, it sounds a lot of effort - thank goodness there are people out there who do stuff like this for us!). 10% of all revenues she makes from these is donated to The Woodland Trust, a charity who support Woodlands conservation. If you want to see more of Emilie's art, just click on any of these photos and you will be redirected to her instagram page.
Of course, if you are willing to treat yourself who wouldn't love a landscape oil painting like this? It's so beautiful and would make your room look so elegant. This type of art is a particularly good feature if your walls and decor contain neutral colours, such as whites, creams and greys.
So our collaboration with Emilie Fitzgerald has lead to our best selling collection of doorknobs, perfect for upcycling a cupboard or chest of drawers. Just click on the photo below to browse our store. Aside from sprucing up your own home, you'll also be supporting a small business, and a student artist at an affordable price.
Until next time,

]]>Kasia, from County Kildare, recently purchased some ceramic cupboard knobs from us in pastel shades and she kindly sent us some photos of her completed projects. Well done Kasia they look amazing! We love what Kasia has done with this beautiful cupboard in natural wood. It looks absolutely stunning and really makes the chest of drawers a focal point to the entire room.
Combining the ceramic knobs in the soft pinks and greys together with the black iron handles is a great idea that works surprising well. The lace edging is also very effective and brings a really cottage feel that is both inviting and homely.
This mixed set of ceramic cupboard knobs in pastel pinks, Eau de Nil greens and pale greys is what Kasia purchased from Mango Tree Knobs to upcycle her cupboard.
In addition Kasia also made this fantastic arts and crafts piece of furniture as a gift for a friend. Kasia used the Mango Tree ceramic cupboard knobs for this creative work and below she shares with us how she managed to achieve this:
'The frame I made myself with pallet wood. Painted it with chalk paint, lots of it so it looks like it was painted many times over. Then distressed it for even more of a vintage look. The small frames I picked up in a charity shop and again painted them . The inside pictures are crochet and knitted but I think you could put anything there really, some nice wallpaper etc. I like that it is very very hand made! The crochet hearts (pattern from YouTube). Then the lovely knobs :-) Some fabric to hand, the 3 frames and its done. It takes time but it's worth it. It looks much better in real life and you can not buy it in the shops. I made it for a good friend of mine.'
Well done Kasia, we are very impressed!
If you would like to do a project of your own and send us photos (even before and after photos would be great) and share them here at Mango Tree Home we would love to hear from you so contact the Mango Tree Team at info@mangotreeknobs.com.
If you are looking for Chalk Paint take a look at this website: Vintage with Grace. They do a great range of chalk paint in some beautiful colours. This chalk paint is the ideal option for all you wonderfully talented furniture artists! Take this opportunity to transform that perfect shabby chic look on your furniture or create a quirky and unique style to any piece of furniture as Kasia managed to do.
So re-love and transform your old and tired furniture using this classic chalk paint.
Kasia found some of her materials from charity shops which is a good idea and visiting local Art and Craft shops is great for inspiration. We have an Art and Craft shop that we often visit in Coulsdon, Surrey and if you search in your local area there is sure to be one near you.
Art & Craft Valley in Coulsdon find the resurgence of yarn arts such as knitting, sewing, and crochet is reflected in the current ‘make-do and mend’ economic climate. Art & Craft have joined this movement and are current suppliers of all haberdashery, knitting and crochet materials. After all, which of us doesn’t need a button from time to time! Their increased range now offers a full supply of haberdashery goods, from dress fabric down to the sewing needle and they carry an extensive range of ribbons and trimmings.
Art & Craft have a complementary teaching service within the store for knitting and crochet, and they are currently attempting to work towards plans of opening a sewing café in their workshop area. We await with excitement!
It's really important to support local retailers like Art & Craft Valley and they are such an amazing source of information that you are guaranteed to leave their shop with the inspiration to create something new for yourself or your home.
Hobbycraft are also currently running a 'Make It Don't Buy It' campaign and they have some great ideas and advice on their website at http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/about-us
So have some fun and don't forget to tell us about it - we would love to hear from you :)

]]>Grey isn’t going anywhere …… who knew this new neutral had so many different moods and hues. Maybe we were all tired of magnolia and ‘whites with a hint of’. When I tentatively tried out a soft dove grey on my bedroom walls a couple of years ago little did I know it would be the start of an ongoing love affair.
It’s so easy to change the look and feel, fresh white linens and a splash of colour for summer, velvet cushions and fur throws in muted shades for a luxurious, grown up feel in cooler months.
I got these lovely little knobs from the Exclusively Emily range at Mango Tree Knobs for my bedside cabinet. I am planning a red and white checked duvet cover and knitted red stockings at Christmas for a lovely Scandi feel.
I have ended up with varying shades of grey all over the house, even the bathroom! Perfect with white towels in summer months I switch to a beautiful rich purple set in the winter.
How can one colour instantly fit so many styles – classic, modern, heritage, minimalist, Scandi you name it – grey fits the bill. Soothing, calming, a lovely backdrop to relax and unwind in yet compliments bright vibrant colours allowing them to pop without being garish.
Give grey a go!

]]>The Mango Tree Team took a trip down the road to Priory Farm, Surrey to go pumpkin picking! Yes, this is a thing. After traipsing through the farm and checking out the cream of the crop, these pumpkins above are the lucky ones that made the pick. Who knew pumpkins came in so many shapes, colours, and sizes? On that note, did you also know that pumpkins can make pretty fantastic seasonal home accessories?
Our first home accessory is the flower pumpkin. We couldn't find any white pumpkins this year so we improvised and painted them white instead! A couple of coats of white emulsion seem to have done the trick. We found these lovely fresh flowers and fruits to make a stunning table display or decorative feature. Do you have a halloween get together planned? Or are looking to impress your friends around the 31st? If so, would this not be a great party trick to show everyone? So try out your artistic skills and see what amazing designs you can come up with.
Next in line is our autumn leaves pumpkin. These beautiful leaves in seasonal colours look very effective on the white background. Gathering the necessary leaves also gives you an excuse to take a trip to your local urban parks, or favourite country spots to appreciate the changing colours of autumn. Maybe even take the kids along so they can play with the falling leaves - or just do it yourself we're certainly not judging!
If you want to take it up a notch, look no further than our 'haute couture' eau de nil pumpkin - it's all dressed up for the cat walk! It has a very glamorous effect, and is hand painted in copper tones with gold hearts. We grabbed the first thing that was circular in shape, drew around it in pencil, and then painted within the circles. Please note that all these accessories were not in fact done by our resident artist, but by the Customer Services and Marketing team - so if we can do it, you certainly can! Wouldn't it look lovely as a centre piece on a dining room table?
If you're looking for some accessories to go with these pumpkins, check out our blog post here. As a last note, we don't want all these lovely pumpkins going to waste so if anybody knows a good recipe for pumpkin soup or pumpkin pie please let us know! ]]>Who doesn't love autumn? Strolling through the parks or countryside with the most beautiful trees, and coloured leaves fallen at your feet...
Why shouldn't your homes be just as magical? For this season, Mango Tree Home has chosen two different colour palettes: Orange & White; and then Green, Mustard and Grey. Without further ado, let's get started! For the Orange & White look, why not turn to nature for your new home interior project!
These wonderful autumn colours are full of organic textures and natural earthy tones. This warm outdoorsy look has great character and high street stores are offering plenty of quirky accessories to give your home an original feel. This blanket feels so soft and cosy, and we have found that Tartan fabrics in autumnal shades are very popular. The Stirling woven check cushion is available from Next in different sizes, click here for the link.
These mustard yellow door knobs go perfectly with our second autumn theme and are a very pretty addition to the room. These ceramic cupboard knobs are available from our Mango Tree shop - click here for the link.
We believe the green and mustard combination creates such a classy look. You don't have to buy a new sofa either; soft furnishings like blankets and throws can change the colour theme of your room whilst adding comfort and warmth as the nights draw in.
This exclusive mixed set of ceramic cupboard knobs has been specially created by the Mango Tree design team for the autumn season. The knobs are hand painted and originally designed for Mango Tree by Emilie Fitzgerald. We love these pastel colours of eau de nil greens and dusty pinks, pale greys and soft lavenders. They are colours that are soft on the eye and easy to blend with other pastel shades. You can also add some dashes of bolder tones and accessories for a more striking effect. The mood board we created features Laura Ashley wallpapers and fabrics in dusty pinks and eau de nil pastel greens. Eau de nil literally translated means 'water of the Nile', a soft gentle blend of barely there blue, green and grey to give the soft gentle colour of this pale washed green.
Look isn't this great! We've actually found an Eau de Nil pumpkin! Very seasonal and doesn't it go beautifully with our current range of dusty pink and eau de nil green ceramic cupboard knobs. These shabby chic ceramic knobs have been specially designed for us by our in-house designer Emilie and these and other cupboard knobs can be found on our website under Exclusively Emilie.
These cupboard knobs would be great on a dresser and would look fantastic with creams and aged whites similar to the photo below. By adding this eclectic mix of door knobs to your cupboard or dresser you would be rewarded with a fun and truly interesting piece of furniture that will no doubt create a great talking point when your friends and family come to visit. This mixed set of ceramic cabinet knobs s one of our best selling lines, click here for the website link.
Finding accessories in dusty rose brings a lovely warm feeling to a room. Even flowers like these hydrangeas adds such a beautiful colour especially when combined with natural neutral shades.
Why not take some time to look for some dusky colour accents or even find some antique pieces to create a similar feeling. We found this lovely tea pot and matching cup and saucer in an antique shop on one of our travels.
We often mix these dusty pink and eau de nil green colours with pale grey which many homeowners find is the perfect neutral scheme. This mixed set of six ceramic drawer knobs that we have created is another one of our best selling lines, click here to see further details on our website.
Eau de Nil is probably not the first colour you would think of for your kitchen but in fact it has such a great neutral tone and works really well for a kitchen. If you are thinking about introducing these colours to your kitchen have a look at what we've found available from Smeg, isn't this such a beautiful looking fridge. They've even paired it will a dusty pink tall bin! Imagine how lovely our set of cupboard knobs in eau de nil green and dusty pink and pale grey would look on your kitchen cupboards and drawers with this cool fridge.
Smeg are also launching matching kitchen accessories! Not available yet but have a sneek preview of this great looking kettle by Smeg
This food mixer looks impressive too
And, to top it off, a matching toaster!

]]>We've included wallpaper and materials from Laura Ashley, some very stylish door knobs from Mango Tree Knobs and of course Michelle's pom pom that helped inspire her room makeover. Check out Michelle's blog for further details.
Adding cushions and throws is such a great way to bring a quick and easy change of style to your living room or bedroom. Saffon and slate is definitely the in colour and we found an amazing variety in these exciting tones in every major high street store.
This is a new mixed set of ceramic cupboard knobs created by the Mango Tree team in a variety of Saffron yellows and Slate greys. These drawer knobs would add lovely finish to a chest of drawers or a small cupboard that needs a revamp. These are available to purchase from the Mango Tree shop, just click on the photo above to go straight to the link.
Adding other accessories linked to this Saffron and Slate colour scheme will help to create the look. This beautiful little painting of a tree was painted by Emilie Fitzgerald. Emilie only uses fallen trees from local forests and cuts the wood herself. She then treats the wood and paints beautiful designs on them and donates part of her sales to the Woodland Trust which supports local woods and wildlife. Emilie has painted this in oils on reclaimed wood. Emilie is our in house designer at Mango Tree Knobs and you can check out the range of hand painted cupboard knobs that she has designed for us called Exclusively Emilie by clicking here.
Saffron and Slate is a look that blends really well with natural wood finishes and even this wicker picnic hamper and basket of pine cones helps to give a welcoming feel to the room.
This mixed set of ceramic cupboard knobs would look so lovely on a wooden cupboard and these are currently on sale at Mango Tree Knobs but only for a limited period so don't delay!
We found some exciting products in the John Lewis Home store that would look brilliant with our Saffron and Slate mood board. This velvet sofa by Loaf is exquisite and such a great size! It's a cosy small two seater that's just perfect to fit in where a normal two seater would be too large. Click on the photo above to see it in store.
We love this bed linen from John Lewis in the Saffron and Slate colours. It's modern but still has a warm and cosy feeling and makes you want to just climb in and get ready for those chilly autumn nights. Click on the photo above to see it in store.
We found so many cushions on the high street in Saffron and Slate but we particularly like this selection from John Lewis. Love the counting sheep cushion, both stylish and fun. Click on the photo above to see it in store.
Hope we have helped to inspire your next makeover. If you haven't read Michelle's blog then go to Michelle loves.... to get further tips and ideas.
]]>I love accessorising with colours and textures, whether it’s something as simple as a new lipstick or scarf to brighten up an outfit; cushions, candles and home accessories to ring the changes in a room and don’t get me started on shoes and handbags!
Sadly the shoes and handbags can be an expensive business but an easy and enjoyable way to change the mood, suit the season, reinvent any room in the house is to inject a new accent colour with a few well chosen accessories.
I like to keep the background palette in my home generally neutral soft greys, shades of white and cream and then ring the changes with colour in soft furnishings and finishing touches. Even moving accessories around from one room to another can give a room a whole new look and lease of life.
Changing bedlinen for a warmer look, I was about to put away the lovely saffron and grey throw I had used as a layer over white bedlinen this summer, when I decided it was too nice to confine to a drawer! Cue living room seasonal re vamp – the throw looked beautiful on the arm of one of my neutral sofas. A couple of soft grey cushions (one knitted, one velvet) came down from the loft from last years’ cool grey theme and I was on a roll! Next thing I was taking a spare button from a lovely mustard yellow cardigan, and making a woollen pom pom from a left over ball of wool to decorate a cushion.
Off to my lovely friends at The Mango Tree for a couple of saffron cabinet knobs and my makeover is complete.

It's obviously advantageous if you have red quite obviously embedded into the kitchen such as seen in the picture above, however adding red accessories or kitchenware after the kitchen has been fitted can without doubt still create a fantastic look. For example, check out the photo below:
The kitchen above clearly has a cohesive look - it has a homely, yet tidy feel. It is greatly aided by the bold red Smeg fridge (click here to shop for one) For this feel, we recommend shopping in Cath Kidston - if you don't know the company already, a short browse on their store will reveal why they are perfect for this look. One simple addition for this look is adding a red and white checkered such as this table cloth from dunelm, along with red seat pads from the same company. This can also be used to create a more rustic, shabby look (for example with a slightly weathered looking wood table, and shabby vintage furniture).
These set of knobs do not really need an explanation! They are perfect for the red and white combination in a household. Click on the photo above to grab a pair from our store.
]]>Today's post is all about elegance. This colour palette is created with creams and with the addition of one colour, in this case light pink. Glass and metal accessories go with this look particularly well. Something as simple as vintage candle holders and a chic vase can be a great way of creating a look of elegance. We would recommend this Candle Holder from NotOnTheHighStreet for a reasonable price of £16. We have found two vases sold by John Lewis that we think would go well to compliment this look. Click here for the more affordable option, or if you are willing to splash out you'll want to click here for this beautiful Waterford vase.
This is the set we have chosen to go with elegance. You can find it in our shop by clicking on the photo. We feel this set compliments elegance because of its light and refreshing colour tone. The greens and pinks are very attractive, but are not too bold, and so would blend in nicely with the colour scheme we are going for. You can grab this set for £29.80.
]]>Are you looking to find accessories that compliment a bedroom splashed with patterns or prints? Then you've come to the right place! In fear of creating an overwhelming look, or putting too many accessories into a small room, we recommend choosing exciting functional items as opposed to adding excess amounts of accessories. We have recommended spending extra time on finding good basics: bedside tables, lamps, furniture, and (of course!) doorknobs.
Our first stop is antique shopping. If you are on a budget, we recommend looking through cheaper options, such as the antique section on eBay. If you have a more dosh to splash, then perhaps look at websites that specialise in selling antiques. For example, www.sellingantiques.com brings together antique dealers and customers like you. The same goes for the furniture - this chest of drawers is the look that you want to be going for. You may want to find a plain chest of drawers and paint it up!
We have chosen this set to go with the patterns & prints look because the glass and ceramic doorknobs compliment its classy and vintage look. Two of the doorknobs in this set have elegant patterns on them, which will compliment outside patterns without becoming overbearing. Just click on the photo above to grab a pair from our store!
]]>Today we're going to be covering a rustic blue look. What I like about this look is that it is has a rustic feel to it, but it is also homely and gentle. Perfect for this look is without doubt vintage furniture. We recommend having a good look through Etsy, as there is some great stuff on there. If this is on the slightly expensive side, perhaps a local antique and furniture shop might be the better option. Sometimes nothing can beat a vintage rustic look than something that has been a bit weathered!
We have chosen this set of doorknobs to compliment the ambience for a variety of reasons. Firstly, its shabby chic style ties in nicely with a vintage rustic look we are going for. And, it's perfect for the blue colour scheme, featuring darker blues but also balancing it out with whites and light blues. Just click on the photo to grab a pair from our shop.
